Workforce Development Grant

Good morning school nurse colleagues,

I am pleased to report that our Grant is up and running. We have received our first payment to cover our October educational, Stop the Bleed program that was held at the Crowne Plaza.  In addition, we have a meeting this evening with NASN, RIDOH and our organization to finalize the scholarship for the annual membership component of the grant. News too come out soon.

Over the past weeks, we have accepted applications and held interviews for the consultant position covered under the grant. I would like to thank the interview committee for their time and dedication to the process.  I am happy to announce that we have hired Christina McLeod.  Christina currently is the Chairperson of our Legislative Committee and the co-chair of the New England Conference Committee.  She has vast experience establishing a social media presence for organizations such as ours and has exceptional computer and organizational skills.  I would like you to join me in welcoming her to this position.  

One of her first tasks is recruitment and retention of members and filling the Board of Directors positions.  In addition, she will be assisting in executing the grant.  There are many opportunities for education and professional growth under this grant.  Please keep your eyes open as you will be hearing from us soon!

I hope you all had a joyful Thanksgiving.  I am very thankful for everyone in this organization and for our partnership with RIDOH.  This grant will bring many benefits to RI school nurses that can benefit our students across the state.  I wish you all a happy and healthy holiday season!
