In February 2023 NASN posted an invitation for all members to apply to join a professional delegation of school nurses to visit the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to foster dialogue and sharing of best practices.
RICSNTA is proud to announce that two of our members, Linda Mendonca and Amy Dark were among the delegation. This delegation, led by NASN President Dr. Linda Mendonca, consisted of 13 school nurses from several different states including Florida, North and South Carolina, Vermont, Missouri, Washington, Wisconsin and Texas. This visit was at the invitation of Dr. Sumaya AlBlooshi, Director of Nursing at the Ministry of Health and Prevention and consisted of cultural experiences and professional visits to the Fatima College of Health Sciences, Ministry of Health, Zayed Educational Complex and the Al Ebdaa School.
The NASN delegation felt welcomed and made comfortable by our Middle East school nurse counterparts, and we soon discovered many of our challenges in the health office are shared by them as well.
