Position Description

FHR is proud to announce an expansion of our continuum of care in RI with our newest program, a Crisis stabilization unit.  This program serves as a facility-based program where patients experiencing a psychiatric emergency can receive short-term stabilization services in a safe, structured setting.  This 16 bed unit operates for the purposes of hospitalization diversion as well as a step down from a hospital setting for Rhode Island residents 18 years of age or older.  It centers on recovery and resiliency with an emphasis on rehabilitation and person-centered care to manage behavior health needs, improve activities of daily living, and increase independence in order to transfer to a lower level of care.   This program will operate 24 hours per day and is expected to open Summer 2020. The Crisis Stabilization Unit is a hands off program and nurses will not be required to complete restraints of patients. Nurses will be administering oral and IM medications as well as running groups and providing education regarding nutrition, medication management and healthy living to patients. Patients will be admitted to the Crisis Stabilization Unit on a voluntary basis and will have the ability to refuse medications and treatment if they choice.

We are currently recruiting for Nursing staff to service as part of an interdisciplinary team to  coordinate  medical, nursing and program services.  The Crisis Nurse is responsible for the initial interview and or assessment of the individuals when they are in crisis to assure stabilization and assist with medication administration.

Qualified by an approved school of nursing program or baccalaureate of higher degree in nursing and licensed by the state, commonwealth, or territory to practice nursing. Two years’ experience providing direct clinical services to adults with mental illness and/or substance abuse is preferred. Newly licensed candidates will be considered after comprehensive review of training, experience, and demonstrated competence. Medical experience is preferred.
