Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner

Lifespan – Rhode Island Hospital

Providence, Rhode Island

Our flagship facility, Rhode Island Hospital, is seeking an Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner to take a lead role in the treatment and care of occupational disease and injury, including episodic care. This position is responsible for managing a caseload of patients in partnership with the healthcare team to optimize health status and coordinate care over time and across healthcare settings and providing direct care to patients in the ambulatory setting in accordance with state licensure and federal guidelines. The NP will provide leadership in the development, validation, implementation and evaluation of standards, policies, procedures and critical paths to support the patient care delivery model and participate in the education, clinical research and mentoring of healthcare providers. As a collaborative member of a team devoted to emplpyeee well-being, the NP will also assume responsibility for preventive strategies for all of  our employees, both occupational and personal.


  • MSN degree and graduation from of accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Two years of related experience as an RN in an acute care hospital or ambulatory care setting
  • Five years of experience as a nurse practitioner in occupational health, emergency medicine, primary care or preventive medicine preferred
  • Demonstrated advanced physical and psychosocial assessment skills
  • Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS)
  • The desire to develop expertise in occupational and preventive health
  • Superb clinical and communication skills and a desire to be part of a dynamic team
